dinner with friends

we got together with the baileys this evening.
our friendship dates back to our college days...dare i say almost 13 years now? are we really that old?
the kiddos love playing with each other. and like always drew is completely outnumbered by all these girls. he handles it quite well.
chloe was completely smitten with ava. she loves to take on a big sister role with any child younger than herself. it's kinda cute.
by the end of the evening ava must have received a few dozen kisses from her long lost big sister.
as for the big kids...we picked up right where we left off and had a great time catching up on each other's lives.
thank you baileys for a fun evening♥
{the kids...drew is one lucky guy♥}
{the boys doing what they do best...working}

{that's better...}
{but apparently it wasn't enough..these two are funny when they get together}

{the kids had a great time chasing each other...the weather was beautiful}

miss ava became quite the poser when my camera came out...cute girl

{ming and i}

{just one more kiss...}

our baller

ella has become quite the baller...as daddy would call it.
games are so much fun to watch now. i am "that" mom who yells nonstop from the sidelines. i can't help it.
today was extra special. grandpa and grandma came to watch.
purplicious played an incredible game, but were beat out by the blue piranhas.
barth was convinced the opposing team was on steroids. such a daddy thing to say. but to be quite honest the heights of these girls kinda made you wonder.
we have one more game to go this season. looking forward to what fall  has in store.

grandpa and grandma treated us all to ice cream after the game thanks to miss ella who played her ♥ out.
{my usual...cake batter & graham cracker with rainbow sprinkles}

{riley couldn't get enough}

thank you grandpa & grandma. you made ella's day....and mine too with the ice cream♥

a doctor's appointment

today was d day for riley and chloe.
d for doctor and d for dreaded. i say this cause i knew shots were in order.
it wasn't so much of a dreaded day for them as it was for mommy. i just get so anxious about it all.
i guess we all know where chloe gets it from. sorry baby.
both girls are growing like weeds and received a clean bill of health.
and about those shots...we left with a total of six pokes. 3 for riley. 3 for chloe. and maybe a tear or two shed.
{chloe was in no mood to take pictures}

the stats
riley
weight: 22.5lbs (40%)
length: 30in (33%)
head circumference: 47 1/2cm (90%)

chloe
weight: 30.8lbs (15%)
height: 38 3/4in (25%)

on a positive note...for once i didn't have to go to a doctor's appointment alone. grandma popped in for a surprise visit. she kept riley very entertained with her reading glasses. we ♥  grandma.

one of those moments

i had one of those proud mommy moments today.
the kind where you are like a cup overflowing with pure pride that you just can't contain it.
let me just brag for a bit...i promise it will be short!
my sweet ella has grown so much this year. if you have ever met her she is the quiet, sweet-spirited girl of the bunch. she is a thinker, loves to learn and is a sucker for all things arts & crafts.
kindergarten has brought confidence and chance to show us just what she is capable of. it is incredible.
these are the papers that came home in her folder just this week....

{top 5 of 24 kids}

{100% on her first spelling test}
{100% on her first timed math test}

{her "rainbow fish" masterpiece is currently framed and on display in the school office for all to enjoy}

...ella bella, we are so proud of all your hard work. we love u♥

scavenger hunt sunday...here goes!

my friend, and fellow blogger, andrea (check out her set!) took on this photo challenge last week. it sounded fun and i am always up for an excuse to take more pictures. the idea is to take the given set of words or phrases for that week and try to creatively capture a photo for each. this is my first time, but i had a lot of fun with it. thank you to my baby girl who somehow became the focus for most of my pictures. here they are...

{yellow}
this little lady bug was soaking up the sun in this patch of wildflowers.

{something that makes/made you smile}
those lips. those cheeks. those eyelashes. completely edible. made me smile.

{ancient or antique}
this may be a stretch, but i thought my baby looked quite antique in those spectacles.

{splash}
the weather has been incredible. 90+ degrees. this was the best way to cool off.

{in the sun}
my baby is finding a love for soccer much earlier than her sisters. this was shot at sister #2's soccer game.

check out more interpretations at the link below.

sunday funday

it's back to the grind tomorrow.
i was starting to love the leisure mornings and having all three of my girls at home.
a few highlights of our last day of spring break...an early morning breakfast at starbucks, a little shopping, a surprise trip to see the lorax in 3d, dinner cooked by daddy and some frozen yogurt to top it all off.
it was a perfect day.

purplicious♥

another saturday, another soccer game.
it has been unusually cold here in southern california.
we had the first game of the day and it was a whopping 46 degrees outside. very cold for us sun lovers.
nevertheless, the game must go on.
ella played very well today. she was focused and went after the ball like never before.
it was really exciting to watch, so much so that her daddy just couldn't contain those infamous heebie jeebies.
i took a few photos before and after the game...the only time i wasn't toting around a 20 something pound baby in the bjorn.

this is one very proud daddy.

 me and my girls. riley is literally spilling out of this bjorn. i know i can't be the only one who still highly depends on this clever contraption...despite my aching back...az? anyone?

 snacks. it really is the best part of the entire game day. i think these kids depend on them.

go purplicious!!
