day five:: the market

we spent most of our last day at pike place market.
the girls were mesmerized by all the pretty things to buy...it is such a melting pot of goods.
the flying fish was a big hit, so much so we decided to take some copper river salmon home as a souvenir {we can't wait to enjoy it this weekend in san diego}.

this made the korean part of me very excited. right in the middle of the market was this incredibly trendy food spot. i wish i could have tried one of each thing from the menu.

ella was so excited to check off another must see item on her list...the pike place pig. we soon learned it's a she and her name is rachel. this was all news to me.

another must see. the gum wall. barth had actually never seen it before. although it was pretty gross, it made for a super fun backdrop.
in honor of my baby sis we stopped off at cinnamon works to pick up a cookie for her and a few for us. yummmy.
barth satisfied his ever growing coffee addiction with a stop off at the original starbucks.

and that's a wrap.
i can't believe how much we squeezed into the few days we had in the city.
thank you seattle for sharing all you have to offer with us...including the rain.

day four:: seattle sights

day four we explored the city.
the rain continued {no surprise there} and the wind decided to pick up. good thing we had our rain coats..we don't get too much use of them at home.
it felt so funny checking out all the sights of the city. you would have never guessed we once lived here. it was fun to play tourists.

we took the monorail from westlake to seattle center. the girls would have stayed on board all day if they could.

next stop, the space needle. i remember growing up thinking it was the coolest thing ever. the apple doesn't fall far from the tree, the girls just couldn't get enough of it. once we got up top the girls couldn't wait to go to  check out the view from the observation deck. we got drenched as the rain came down sideways, but it was  so much fun to see their faces.

 poor riley was not diggin the rain and cold. the entire trip she was not quite herself. i think she was fighting a bug. she was done with the weather at this point...

we decided to take a break from the outdoors and took the girls to the children's museum. this was another spot i used to love visiting when i was younger. it wasn't all i remembered it to be...not sure if it was just a little run down or if it's just cause i am old now. probably a bit of both.

the rain let up for a bit and the sun started peaking through the clouds. it was so pretty i made barth pull over so that the girls could run around the pier.

this next picture is a fun one. this was the exact place that i got my very first kiss ever and it was of course from my honey. notice how he is the one doing the kissing with no reciprocation...that's pretty much how it went down 10 years ago.

goodnight beautiful seattle...see you tomorrow.

day three:: a trip down memory lane

this was the best day ever.
barth and i had so much fun taking our girls to all our favorite memory spots.
the rain was relentless but we kept going and the girls were such good sports about it.
we literally went from one spot to the next sharing our stories with ella and chloe. they loved that part.
so hard to believe that it's been eleven years since all those memories first began.

the girls always love staying in a hotel.
we let them jump on the beds, stay up late and pray that they sleep in past 6am.
{riley loved the phone, she made endless calls to no one}

before we left my mom gave ella a list of things to look for in seattle. she almost jumped out of her car seat with excitement when she spotted the space needle.

spu. brought back so many good memories being on campus.

the loop.

the girls were not too sure of this guy at first, but i think it ended up being one of their favorites.

we ended that day with dinner at orapin, a thai restaurant that we spent countless hours either eating at or taking out. oh my goodness, it was just as good as i remembered it.

day two:: your how old?!

my sis-in-law turned forty this past week...although you would never guess it in a million gazillion years.
day two was all about surprises. 40 years definitely warrants a big celebration.
we all dressed in our best black attire and completely shocked her with a house full of surprise visitors & a party in full swing.

we started off the day with a little target practice, cause what is better than taking out a few rabbits and birds to kick off a party. i am totally kidding. but we did take turns shooting tuna cans with a pink gun. i love it.
{i secretly think pink is his favorite color}

this was the best day of weather for our entire trip. not one drop of rain and even a little sunshine. the girls completely wore themselves out playing with their cousins. they got pretty creative and made a slide out of some old cardboard boxes. this went on for hours. the big kids even got in on the fun.
{pretty pansies}
{notice the matching shirts...all the girls had them. "o' lordy my auntie's 40!"}

and here is the birthday girl...so fun and so cute and so not 40 looking. love u.

looking lovely in black...

here is papa doing his fire dance. i wish i had video so you could hear the chanting of him and barth.
♥happy birthday tawnya♥
